Birthday Weekend Update, part 1

Hello everyone! I promised I would provide pictures and updates for the weekend, so here goes!

On Friday Mom and Dad left me behind and went to see Avenue Q at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. They LOVED it I guess, because they came in the door singing the songs. Obviously they couldn't take any pictures while they were there-- Dad said there was a camera-Nazi-lady at the door basically frisking everyone. But I got pictures of the program! Warning to everyone who might have kids (or bosses) in the room-- I'll be clean, but I can't speak for the show itself!

These are all from the DCPA program, and to hear Dad tell of it, they're not lying-- It's certainly NOT your grandmother's puppet show!

The rest of the pictures are from the promotional material for the national show. Here is the cast of characters:

And here is Stephanie D'Abruzzo with Lucy T. Slut and Kate Monster:

That's right-- she apparently had two furry creatures surgically grafted to her hands, and acts during the show as both characters. What kind of freak show is this?

By the way, Dad likes to watch the TV show Scrubs a lot, and I swear I recognize that lady from an episode where everyone in the hospital sings like they're in a musical.

Here is John Tartaglia with Nicky and Princeton. Seriously, Dad says it's pretty neat to see them make foam rubber do emotions and pretty much anything else they want.

This is Trekkie Monster. Remember Cookie Monster and how he was always so obsessed with cookies? Well, Trekkie Monster is obsessed with... well, something a little more adult.

These are the Bad Idea Bears, which are one of the funniest parts of the show according to Dad. They show up and always provide comic relief along with the worst advice imaginable. If you aren't squeamish, enlarge the picture to read some of their snippets.

And what's that? Are those puppets in bed? Why? I'll just let that one speak for itself, since Dad would only say he'll tell me when I'm older.

One thing is for sure-- my humans are wierd. I mean, it's great they like the arts and support local and all, but this show seems kinda bizarre. Oh well. I guess it can't be too bad, since it won the Tony for best Musical in 2004. It even beat out Wicked! Maybe it's a biped thing.

In any case, Mom and Dad had a great time. Tomorrow: the Bronco game!

What Wordless Wednesday?

REMEMBER!! -- Vote for my Pug Lover's Rescue picture!

Today is Dad's birthday, so I'm not about to be wordless. HOORAY! He is 182 today! Yipes.

He and Mom opened presents this morning. I'll put up pictures of that later: WRAPPING PAPER! And yes, I did say that they both opened presents. Mom and Dad do something called "hobbit presents" where the birthday person gives one gift to the other in addition to receiving their normal gifts. They call it that because hobbits in "The Lord of the Rings" give gifts on their birthday, instead of receiving them.

Dad gets corned beef tonight, but he says he won't share any with me. Ha! That's what he thinks. Remember the power of the Glummy face? Resistance is useless. Also, they are going to Denver on Friday night to see Avenue Q at the Elie Caulkins Opera House! It's one of Mom and Dad's favorite shows, and they've never seen it live, so they decided it's more important than spending time with me. Thanks a lot, guys...

I can't blame them, though. They play the CD at home a lot, and even I think it's pretty hilarious. For those of you who don't know what it is, think Sesame Street characters, with the minds and mouth of the South Park kids, all placed within the plot of Rent. OK, fine: I'm jealous. There, I said it. If only theaters weren't prejudiced against furkids, I could join them. Come on now, let's all join paws and sing: "We shall overcome/We shall overcome..."

And if that wasn't enough, on Sunday they are going to see the Broncos-Saints game at Denver! Dad has been a lifelong Bronco fan, and this is the first time he's gotten to see them in person, so he is really excited. Plus, our fantasy team has Reggie Bush and Jay Cutler both starting, so YAY! Go PugNation! I hope to see lots of this:

I think Harry Pugalicious' mom can agree with me on that one!

In other news, Jay Cutler is doing awesome for the Broncos. Of course, with muscles like he has, how could he not?

What's that, Dad? That's not Jay Cutler? Of course it is! I Googled his name on image search, and there were pages worth of this guy! Why would Google lie to me?

OK, Mr. Smarty Pants, I'll try "Jay Cutler Broncos". Don't know what difference it'll make, since it's still the same name--

What?!?! Google lied to me. I feel hurt, and taken advantage of. *sniff*

But, that seems to be par for the course for my weekend coming up. Oh well, I'll just take it out on a rawhide.

Thanks everyone for voting on my pictures-- keep them coming!

Dates and updates

Hello everyone!

I promised I would update more. So take that, procrastination! Grrr.... I'll chew you to a mushy pulp if you come near me again. And then I'll swallow you when Mom and Dad aren't looking. And then you'll come out my butt in one long string. Because that's what I do.

So yesterday Mommy and Daddy went on a date and saw "Wall-E", which is about this robot who cleans up trash. Which is silly, really-- the best part about trash is rolling around in it and seeing the carnage you have caused. Dad really liked it, but Mom was so-so. They both REALLY like animated movies, especially Pixar stuff. They're OK. I just like seeing the pug in "Pocahontas". Someday the humans will treat me to that kind of luxury. Aaaahh...

Speaking of luxury, Dad was pretty psyched that he saw a pug in the trailer for "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," which up to this point he had no desire to see. He's such a sap and a sucker. Which means I've done my job.

Snoufer continues to do much better. He's back to his usual self, playing with his rubber ball:

Acting like a vicious watchdog:

And generally indulging his terrier instincts:

I like rodent toys, too:

Speaking of pests, Snoufer and I have been on the hunt for spiders lately. Several have crawled into the basement, which is a source of no end of frustration for Dad (since he finished the basement) and terror for Mom (since she hates spiders). We'll keep her safe, though.

That will do as an update for now, especially since Dad is about to sit down to watch one of my favorite shows: "Firefly"! I'll put up more pictures next time. Thank you so much to everyone who has commented and kept up with my blog! Suggestions are always welcome, so bring 'em on!
